Our approach

Care that fits, with you at the centre

At Femmecare we first look together at what you need. We start with one doctor, involve others when that helps, and decide together with you.

01

How your care works

  1. 1

    Your GP refers you

Your GP discusses with you whether care at Femmecare is a good fit, and refers you.

  2. 2

    First appointment with one doctor

A gynaecologist or women's health physician discusses your symptoms, your questions and what matters to you.

  3. 3

    One doctor, or several

Care from one doctor is often enough. Sometimes it helps to have several professionals involved.

  4. 4

    Deciding together

You choose together with the doctor. We explain why we do, or do not do, something.

  5. 5

    Back to your GP

After treatment your GP receives a letter naming the doctor who treated you and your medication.

02

One doctor, or several

Care from one doctor is neither better nor worse than care from several professionals. What matters is what works for you.

Usually

We always start with one doctor

Every course of treatment starts with a first appointment with a gynaecologist or women's health physician. Together you establish what is going on and which care fits best. In many cases care from one doctor is enough and effective. Your treatment then stays with that one doctor.

Sometimes

Working together when that helps

Some problems are complex. Physical, hormonal and psychological factors can influence one another. After the first appointment we consider whether involving one of our care partners would help:

  • PsychiatryPolikliniek voor het Vrouwenbrein
  • PsychologyVrouw GGZ, in the same building
  • Pelvic floor physiotherapyPelvic physiotherapist, in the same building

Only if it contributes to your recovery, and only if you agree to it. More about our care partners

03

No more care than necessary

Together we choose the care that fits. In doing so we keep three things in mind.

  • As effective as possibleThe care must genuinely help with your symptom or question.
  • As short as possibleNo longer under treatment than necessary.
  • Nothing unnecessaryNo tests or treatments that add nothing for you.
04

Outpatient, without general anaesthetic

At Femmecare, tests and treatments take place in the outpatient clinic: under local anaesthetic, or with no anaesthetic at all. You go home the same day.

If an operation under general anaesthetic is needed, we refer you to hospital and make sure your care is handed over properly. Each treatment page sets out what we do ourselves and what we refer on.

05

Deciding together

You decide together with the doctor. We explain your options clearly, and why we do or do not do something. With attention to you as a whole person, not just to your symptom. This is what our patients say:

9,2is the average mark out of 10 that patients give Femmecare.
96%felt fully involved in decisions about their treatment.
+78is our Net Promoter Score (NPS), on a scale from −100 to +100.

Source: Femmecare patient experience survey, based on the Dutch national PREM questionnaire for medical specialist care; March to September 2026. The NPS is calculated from the overall mark: the percentage of patients giving a 9 or 10, minus the percentage giving a 6 or lower.

For GPs

You stay in charge

The GP coordinates care. You refer; we carry out the first assessment and decide whether care from one doctor is sufficient or whether several disciplines should be involved. You receive feedback throughout.
