The people behind Femmecare
Meet the doctors and staff you will see at Femmecare. Experienced, committed and attentive to you as a woman.

Our doctors

Gynaecologist · Medical director
Dr. Céline Lardenoije
Dr. Céline Lardenoije is a gynaecologist and the medical director of Femmecare. She brings extensive experience from Maastricht UMC+, where for many years she was committed to high-quality, personal women’s healthcare.
At Maastricht UMC+ she ran the vulva clinic and provided paediatric gynaecology. She brings that experience to Femmecare. Women with vulvar conditions, such as lichen sclerosus, can see her, as can girls with gynaecological questions or complaints. She also focuses on hormonal complaints, menstrual cycle problems and integrated women’s healthcare.
As medical director, she has final responsibility for the quality and safety of medical care at Femmecare. Patients value her for her clear explanations, her empathetic approach and her expert eye.

Gynaecologist
Dr. Iris Zwaan
Dr. Iris Zwaan is an experienced gynaecologist who works primarily at Laurentius Hospital in Roermond. Her areas of interest lie in benign gynaecology: menstrual disorders, benign abnormalities such as polyps or cysts, cycle-related complaints and the menopause.
At the hospital, Iris supports women through every stage of life, from the wish to have children and pregnancy to complaints related to menstruation, the menopause or prolapse. She brings that broad experience to Femmecare.
She is known for her calm approach, clear explanations and genuine involvement.

Medical specialist · Gynaecology
Dr. Esther van Barneveld
Dr. Esther van Barneveld is a doctor and researcher with in-depth expertise in endometriosis. She obtained her PhD on this subject at Maastricht UMC+, focusing on diagnosis, quality of life and new approaches for women with chronic, hormonal and cycle-related pain.
At Femmecare, Esther combines her scientific background with her clinical experience. She focuses mainly on women with complex complaints, which often receive too little attention for years.

Women’s health physician · Gynaecology & lifestyle
Dr. Annabel Boiten
Dr. Annabel Boiten is a women’s health physician at Femmecare and supports women with menopause symptoms and questions about contraception.
Her interest in gynaecology developed early during her medical studies at Maastricht University, partly through her gynaecology research internship at Máxima MC. There she studied the influence of the menstrual cycle on the performance of elite athletes.
At Femmecare she combines that interest with attention to lifestyle and hormone therapy: how nutrition, exercise and relaxation, together with well-adjusted hormone treatment, contribute to a more comfortable menopause.

Women’s health physician · Gynaecology
Dr. Charlotte Triepels
Dr. Charlotte Triepels is a women’s health physician at Femmecare. She spent four years training to become a gynaecologist and then deliberately chose a career outside the hospital, so that she could give her patients more time and attention.
Charlotte is a skilled and meticulous doctor who takes the time to listen and to explain things properly. Women with a wide range of gynaecological complaints can see her.
She pays particular attention to young girls with gynaecological questions or complaints.
Support and management

Medical assistant
Inge Weltens
Inge Weltens is an experienced medical assistant and a familiar face at the women, mother and child centre of Maastricht UMC+, where she also works.
Inge is known for her careful, calm and approachable style. She gives patients a warm welcome and, with her eye for detail, helps your care run smoothly and safely. As the first point of contact and assistant to our doctors, she is an indispensable link within Femmecare.
When you call us, you will often speak to Inge.

Managing director
Ward Grootjans, MBA
Ward Grootjans, MBA, is the managing director of Femmecare. With his background as an entrepreneur and his degree in business administration from Maastricht University, he makes sure every day that the medical team can focus entirely on patient care.
Ward believes in the social role of a clinic like Femmecare: high-quality, patient-centred care, exactly what patients value. In his view, independent treatment centres (ZBCs) are part of the healthcare solution of the future, and as an ethical entrepreneur he contributes his share.
At Femmecare you may come across Ward anywhere except in the treatment rooms: from finance and purchasing to answering the phone and acting as caretaker. He helps wherever he can, so that the team can give patients good care, with attention and enjoyment.
